Battle on the River Tyne - Bright edition
We have created a new limited edition offset print of our classic panoramic artwork "The Battle on the River Tyne" but now with fully animated augmented reality function to bring the image into the future! That is right - point your mobile device at the print using the free Eyejack app and it will come to life before your eyes! For the first time you will be able to see and hear what we had in our minds when we envisioned the artwork!
The print is an edition of 300 offset prints that are 38 x 7.75 inches ( 96.5 x 19.5 cm ) on 80lb cover stock paper with satin finish, each is signed and numbered by us and includes instructions for view the augmented reality with the EyeJack app.
About the artwork:
Originally created in 2006 for a major exhibition called "Spank the Monkey" at the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art in Newcastle, UK, this panoramic was our take on Newcastle (and the city across the river, Gateshead, as well as commentary on current events of the day). During the course of the exhibition the a big PR event was being held and the museum wanted to create some special projects with some of the artists for the event. We volunteered and got the sponsors to fund an animated version of the artwork, which was created by Titmouse Animation Studio in Los Angeles. They did a bang up job - the animation really captured the story lines in our head when we made the original artwork. Sadly the animation was never seen outside the museum or since the exhibition ended.
Recently we had an opportunity to create an augmented reality artwork and this old panoramic quickly came to mind as the perfect artwork to base it on. Working with the team at Ayzenberg Group and with assistance from the founder of Eyejack, we made this new print to debut at the "Robot Remix" exhibition at Ayzenberg's sp[a]ce Gallery in Pasadena, CA.
